1) Detection and Diagnosis of Wire Harness Burnout Faults
In the power‑supply circuit, wherever the ground connection is made, that’s where the wiring harness will burn. The junction between the burned and intact sections can be regarded as the point where the wire has grounded. If the wiring harness burns all the way to the wiring terminal of a particular electrical device, this indicates that the device itself is faulty.
2) Detection and diagnosis of short circuits, open circuits, and poor contact faults between circuits
- The wiring harness is subjected to external compression or impact, causing damage to the insulation of the wires inside and resulting in short circuits between the wires.
When troubleshooting, disconnect the wire harness connectors at both ends of the electrical equipment and the control switch, and use a multimeter or test lamp to locate any short circuits in the wiring.
- For open‑circuit faults in conductors, aside from obvious breaks, the most common failures occur between the conductor and its terminal. In some cases, after an open circuit develops, the external insulation remains intact while the conductor core has become disconnected from the terminal. To verify this, perform a tensile test on the suspected conductor–terminal assembly; if the insulation gradually thins during the test, the conductor can be confirmed to be open‑circuited.
- Poor contact in wiring often occurs within connectors. When such a fault arises, it can prevent electrical equipment from functioning properly. To diagnose the issue, energize the equipment and gently touch or pull on its associated connectors. If, upon touching a particular connector, the equipment alternates between normal and abnormal operation, this indicates that the connector is defective.
